James Hindle

James has experience in dealing with patents in technical fields including computer software, telecommunications, electronic devices, robotics, medical imaging and consumables. He has experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the UK, Europe and worldwide.

James graduated from the University of Oxford with a Master’s degree in physics, specialising in condensed matter physics and atmospheric physics. His research project in the field of condensed matter physics involved building and investigating the performance of a partially superconducting transformer.

Prior to joining EIP, James worked as a patent examiner at the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). His technical focus included lighting, heating and cooling; gas turbines; foodstuffs; and electronic display equipment. While at the UKIPO, James also worked on the passage of the IP (Unjustified Threats) Act 2017, providing support for the Minister of IP at parliamentary debates and assisting with preparing guidance for businesses on the new law.
